See below the steps of BuyerGuardian.com’s secure car transaction process and how it protects you when buying or selling a used vehicle online. For more details, please read our FAQs.
1) Buyer and Seller agree to terms
Buyer and Seller agree to terms on their own.
2) Buyer or Seller initiates BuyerGuardian.com service
Buyers or sellers can initiate the BuyerGuardian.com Secure Vehicle Purchase Protection service, either online or by phone at 800-416-8357. Each party to the transaction is notified and agrees to the terms and the secure process. BuyerGuardian.com then begins the process.
3) BuyerGuardian.com completes pre-purchase inspection & verifies vehicle history
BuyerGuardian.com runs a comprehensive Vehicle History Report and, if this option is selected by Buyer, performs a Pre-Purchase Vehicle Inspection covering over 150 points on the vehicle (plus a test drive). The report is emailed to the Buyer for review. Based on the results of the report, the Buyer chooses to continue or cancel the transaction.
4) Seller sends original vehicle title and bill of sale to BuyerGuardian.com
Using a proprietary process, BuyerGuardian.com verifies that the title is clean , that the Seller really owns the car being sold, and searches for lienholders or others that might make claim to the vehicle. We also verify that the title is not forged, altered or un-authentic in any way.
5) Buyer sends payment for vehicle to BuyerGuardian.com
The Buyer submits the vehicle payment via wire transfer, certified check or auto loan certified check to BuyerGuardian.com. The payment is deposited into a secure escrow account. BuyerGuardian.com verifies the payment (we make sure the funds clear). Payments made with a certified check or auto loan certified check may take longer to clear and process.
6) BuyerGuardian.com picks up and delivers vehicle (if shipping requested)
Once payment has been received from the Buyer and the title has been received from the Seller (or lienholder has been contacted), the vehicle is picked up via licensed and insured BuyerGuardian.com-affiliate vehicle shipper, or the Buyer arranges to pick up the vehicle.
7) Seller receives payment from BuyerGuardian.com
The vehicle has been picked up; BuyerGuardian.com is still holding the Buyer's funds and the vehicle title and bill of sale. Vehicle pick-up is confirmed by either the Buyer (Buyer pick-up) or the BuyerGuardian.com shipping affiliate (BuyerGuardian-affiliate transporter). BuyerGuardian.com pays the seller (or the lienholder, if a lien exists) within two business days of vehicle pick-up by the Buyer or the car shipping service.
8) Buyer receives vehicle title and bill of sale from BuyerGuardian.com
BuyerGuardian sends the title and bill of sale to the Buyer. If a lienholder is holding title, the car title and bill of sale will be collected by BuyerGuardian from the lienholder and sent to Buyer, typically within 30 days.

"The service was definitely very helpful; I can't find a better way to make this transaction, since I never met the seller. Buyer Guardian [helped] me feel very secure about my purchase. Also the timing was perfect; sometimes this kind of deals take months, and Buyer Guardian always kept me informed on time. I'm completely satisfied with your service and planning on purchasing again through this company. Thank you!!!"

"...I just got back off the phone with Dave, and he said that we'll be getting the inspection done on Monday. That’s great! I'm amazed at how quickly and streamlined this process is."
[a few days later...] "The Cobra was delivered around 7:30pm on December 20th and is everything that Dave had said it was and so much more.
I also referred you to another forum member in regards to shipping help on a Mustang, so hopefully you'll be hearing from him soon."
